This step opens the Fields: Trees pane. The Trees point feature class contains fields that are commonly used in tree inventory data collection. The following is a short description of the existing fields:

•TREEID—a tree identification number

•COLLECTOR—person who collected the data

•HEIGHT—tree height

•HAZARD—identifiable tree hazards

•NOTES—other notes about the tree

•DIAMETER—tree diameter

•LANDUSE—land use on which the tree is located

•DATE—when the data collection took place

Also look at the other columns for each attribute field. The data type determines what kind of data that the field can store; the alias can be used to refer to the attribute field by a different name; and the domain determines which existing domain the field can use. You will add a new tree status field so that it can be assigned the Status domain.

2.Below all the fields, click “Click here to add a new field” and type STATUS for Field Name. Under Alias, type STATUS. Under Data Type, select Text.
